The existing church building is a modest single-storey building that is working very hard to accommodate the day-to-day ministries and activities the church carry out and support. The site is sizeable and able to support a much higher density building development.
Proposal plans involve demolition of the existing building and construction of a 5 storey church and community hub building together with a detached apartment building to create over 40 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments. The new building will provide for the needs of the local community in all kinds of meaningful ways. It will include a café, medical practice, co-working hub, 450-seat auditorium, meeting rooms, church offices, a gym, and a pre-school nursery.
The church is anticipating retaining ownership of the new buildings, including the apartments for rental on the open-market and to support those who would like to stay in this expensive area by offering subsidised rent.
