12-hour shifts aren’t compatible with bringing up a family so whilst I loved working as a paramedic, I exchanged the blue lights and adrenalin rush for a more family friendly role of keeping the company ticking along during business hours.

I enjoy playing my part in the process of change, seeing buildings created, environments enhanced and shaped particularly when it makes a difference for the quality of life and well-being of the people and communities that are able to enjoy them.

Our open plan office means that we’re all engaged in the creative design process of each project though my main focus is to look after the day-to-day business running to make sure we can carry on the great work we’re doing for our clients.

Architecture begins with people. For me, design is more than just meeting physical needs but rather exceeding expectations and expanding people’s capacity through creativity. This is the role of the designer. Good design not only shapes spaces but strengthens communities and enriches lives.

I have had the privilege of being involved in a variety of residential, commercial and community projects in the UK and overseas. This has expanded my perspective and given me the joy of working with clients and professionals from a range of walks. Working with a diversity of people and places has taught me the value of flexibility, which leads to thoughtful, bespoke designs that are tailored to location, people and finances.

In particular, I am passionate about projects that serve community and charitable causes. It is very rewarding and a responsibility to be able to support others by collaboratively creating spaces where amazing work can take place.

As part of the Leap team, I enjoy guiding projects from first ideas through to completion, balancing creativity with practical detail. I’m driven by the belief that good design should make a real difference — improving the way people live, work, and connect with their surroundings.

Over the years I’ve worked on a broad mix of projects, including a decade in London that gave me invaluable experience across projects of different scales and sectors. My training in Ireland first sparked my love of design, but it’s been practice and collaboration that have shaped my approach: keeping an eye on the bigger picture while also caring about the smallest detail.

Listening carefully to clients is always my starting point, and I’m committed to delivering buildings that reflect their ambitions while being as sustainable and responsible as possible. For me, architecture is about more than just form — it’s about creating lasting, positive impact.

People are at the heart of everything we do at Leap – and that’s what inspires the way I create content. I aim to produce content that feels inspiring, authentic, relatable, and adds a bit of extra joy to someone’s day!

Alongside my role, I’m also studying Social Work, which reinforces the importance of people, community, and meaningful communication; values that help shape the way I create content.

Whether it’s jumping on trends, storytelling through reels or showcasing a completed building, I’m all about creating content that builds authenticity and community – not just views!

The task of creating spaces for people to live in is one that fills me with joy. Interiors are the part of architecture that closely appeal to our senses and inevitably influence how we interact and respond to the spaces we inhabit. 

Coming from a furniture design background I relish the variety of projects at Leap. Working within a strong ethos and different scale projects, from community and commercial spaces to home interiors, allow me not only to forge new connections, but also to design spaces that enhance the experience of the people that use them.  

The past is knowable but unchangeable, the future is unknowable but changeable. We must therefore know the past to inform change in the future. This continuity between the past and future combined with beautiful design, creates places that engender a sense of belonging and pride, aspiration and hope, empowering communities and individuals to take ownership over their physical and social context. This is the primary role of the architect: to create places of connection and belonging.

I enjoy the variety of projects we are privileged to work on and the engagement in every part of the project journey. The creativity and collaborative nature of our design-led practice is inspirational and fun to be involved in. In addition to my interest in history and heritage, I particularly enjoy the problem solving, strategic thinking and iterative design process that is woven into our processes from inception to completion and on which each successful project depends. My professional experience includes working with churches, schools and residential developments, though quality design and good architecture is timeless and applicable across all building uses.

Having trained and worked for many years as an architect before taking on new challenges in a very different field, I embraced the opportunity to become involved in the business of architecture again. It turns out that you can lay down the scale rule but the passion for creative design and the excitement of creating spaces that make a difference to individuals and communities never really leaves!

I’m delighted to be working alongside the Leap Architects team to bring strategic input and oversight to the decision-making processes and vision of the company as it grows and develops.

Though my role isn’t ‘hands-on’, I’m particularly excited by the opportunity to be involved in shaping 21st century church architecture and the work of the practice in this area. The church needs good buildings that facilitate mission and respond to changing societal needs and churches need good architects to help reimagine church building typology. It’s both a privilege and a responsibility.

Having recently graduated from a degree in consumer behaviour and marketing I am enjoying applying the theory and using my artistic and communication skills to spread the word about the work and ethos of Leap Architects and the vision and process through each project. Throughout my studies, I worked part time as a marketing assistant for both Leap and also a software development company so whilst newly qualified, I come with a few years’ workplace experience.

I love the creative side of marketing, so where better to use this than in an architecture business! I’m a big people person so love to show people the work that Leap are doing and see if we’re a good fit for their project. One of my roles is external communication and digital media so if you’re enjoying what you see and it’s helpful and informative, I’m doing a good job, if not, let me know because I’ve got work to do!

Designing buildings is very rewarding; there is something wonderful about the creative process of implementing change and nurturing the seed of an idea into vision and shaping vision into reality.

This process of architectural design applies to any building type. The skill of the architect lies in the ability to listen and understand, to respond and adapt; this is important throughout the entire project but nowhere more so than at the outset where the need for change is first articulated. It is imperative that there is a thorough understanding of the real need as opposed to perceived need.

I have enjoyed designing buildings for education, healthcare, sports and arts, leisure and commercial industry as well as for private homeowners and housing developers. In particular I have considerable experience in the design of buildings to resource the Christian Church. This is borne out of my faith in Jesus and a belief that, although churches don’t need to own buildings to fulfil their mission, they can be a valuable resource that can be a catalyst for profound community transformation.

As a recent graduate, I have worked on a range of project types and there’s one common theme, that small incremental changes can have a lasting impact on the local & wider community. My focus is the integration of client & community need, along with beautiful, lasting design for maximum community transformation.

I have a passion for creating user-friendly buildings, because what is a building without its people inhabiting it? I believe that all projects should start from the people that it serves and move upwards and outwards from that which is why I’m eager to be working alongside clients to help fulfil their design dreams.

Architecture is more than just buildings; it is a lived experience, shaped by how we perceive and respond to the spaces we inhabit.

To me architectural design should focus on how we engage with the spaces, balancing functional needs with how we might experience the space. This individual response is influenced by the balance of spatial relationships, scale of spaces, connections to surroundings, light and choice of materials all of which create a place.

I studied and worked in London for several years, where I started at a small practice focusing on private residential projects before moving to a larger practice, where I worked on a variety of projects across different sectors and budgets. Throughout my career, I have worked on private residential projects.

Since joining Leap Architects in 2021, I have led a complex project to renovate and convert a series of listed barns into dwellings and to refurbish a Grade 2* listed manor house, have been involved in the development masterplan for a school and more recently on development and expansion projects for churches. I enjoy working with clients, understanding their needs and guiding them through the process. At Leap our clients are at the heart of every project and I enjoy that we handle each project with the same enthusiasm, rigor, dedication and approach regardless of size.

I’ve always enjoyed the art of problem solving in creative ways; my role at Leap sees me involved in projects of all sizes, from early concepts and masterplanning to the technical detailing and on-site stages later in a project. I get great satisfaction working as part of a team, and independently alongside our clients, playing my part in helping our clients achieve their vision smoothly.

As well as looking after the technical aspects of our designs and drawing preparation, I am committed to continual improvement in the way we manage the day-to-day office processes with the aim of excellence in communication and the service we deliver to our clients.

You’ll find me in the office from time to time. To be honest, my architectural skills aren’t too great – I prefer the great outdoors – but I do provide light relief to everyone in the office (or at least a distraction when I start doing my shuttle runs up and down the office!). I think my most important job is welcoming delivery drivers & postmen. They don’t come too often which means I can spend most of the day snoozing off my morning walk or destroying my toy box.
