Birkdale School, an independent school in Sheffield, owns buildings across three different sites: the prep school, senior school and playing fields. The academic sites are land-locked and working hard for the school, each with its own challenges. The school has an excellent reputation and a wonderful ethos and the building facilities need investment to properly resource the needs of the school. The masterplan design appraisal identified shortcomings, constraints and opportunities and presented long-term strategic proposals to help define a phased development plan.

Proposals may be implemented over several decades and the masterplan strategy helps decision-makers apportion funds and ensure that isolated projects fit into a bigger picture.
