Masterplan proposals for The Hayes Conference Centre include replanning the historic stable courtyard, currently a poorly arranged ad hoc collection of substandard bedroom accommodation shoe-horned into the stable yard buildings.
The stable yard buildings have been variously chopped and changed over the years with new window and door openings created, and other openings filled in, including the archway. A careful options appraisal was carried out to explore the possibility of retaining the existing structure vs rebuilding on the same footprint.
Planning consent was granted for the rebuild option to return the maximum number of ensuite bedrooms. Since then and following the pandemic lockdown priorities and the business model have shifted and the option to retain the existing structure is more appealing and designs are underway to make efficient use of the floor space available for maximum benefit.
“I have worked with Kelvin and his team on a number of projects and always found them to be friendly, they listen carefully to the operational needs and the “wish list” of all before given any of their thoughts – this means they understand the need for the project well but also how they can make the final building and the whole construction process work and fit around the business operation.”
