St George’s is a 1930s church building showing signs of its age. The church is involved all kinds of community outreach and social impact activities, making a difference to the lives of those living nearby but the building is becoming an increasing hindrance to the ongoing work and is in need of extension and improvements.
The church sits on a triangular plot with a large carpark, a derelict parsonage and a tired Scout hall. Proposals include demolishing the house and the Scout hall to make way for 10 new 3 and 4-bedroom homes to help cross-subsidise a two-storey extension to the church building.
The new homes are designed to sit comfortably in the surroundings, leaving space for car parking and allowing the church to remain the central feature of the site as a meaningful resource for life transformation in and around Little Chalfont.
